A simple glass of clean water…something we normally take for granted in our daily lives, until the normal is turned upside down. A natural disaster such as a hurricane or earthquake can destroy an entire region’s water supply.
Hurricanes Irma and Maria brought utter devastation to areas in Florida and Puerto Rico and many other islands in the Caribbean. Tens of thousands of folks were left without the ability to get a simple glass of water. This caused me to realize we were not equipping Mercy’s Vessel properly. We were planning on putting on small water makers that would take care of the crew and staff, but nothing more. These storms made me realize our vision was short sighted. I have spent innumerable hours researching how to better equip Mercy’ Vessel to meet the needs of folks following a natural disaster, and one of the main ways is by putting larger water makers onboard. But we just don’t have the money in our budget….so I started sowing seeds on FaceBook and through my newsletter, and the results have been nothing short of amazing. We are a little over 2/3 of the way to having enough money to put sufficient capacity onboard the boat to be able to provide a 1000 gallons per day of clean drinking water to folks…enough water to help hundreds of families…and we can do it day after day after day.
The advantage of Mercy’s Vessel is we can stay for an extended period of time helping to meet the needs of folks long after their plight has faded from the news.
Please help us reach our goal. Any amount you can give is truly appreciated…it doesn’t matter the size of the gift, whether it is one dollar or a thousand…..every penny goes to the water maker. Can’t YOU help supply that glass of clean drinking water?
